The Life and Times of 'Crazy Bob'

Bob and a buddy he rescued
On Saturday February 11th our wildlife and Sarvey lost one of the best friends they ever had. Bob Jones, a.k.a. ‘Crazy Bob’ lost his battle with cancer. He was 61 years old. Bob was the founder of our wildlife ambulance. He gave completely of himself to our wild brothers and sisters. He would constantly put himself in harms way and show up anytime day or night, bloodied from the battle but always with the patient in tow. Even if that animal had to be put down, Bob always thought it was better than letting the little wild soul die alone, cold, and with no one to tell them ‘I love you". Bob loved all creatures and he had a giant heart. There was absolutely nothing Bob wouldn’t do for a hurt animal. People have animal totems and guides, Bob’s was the Raccoon and Opossum. He really was a Raccoon at heart. I have been with Bob on many rescues and learned so much from him. He got his moniker from rescuing a redtail hawk off a steep roof in a lighting storm, just a little ‘crazy’ some might say. Bob also had as his constant companion, ‘Billie" his border collie. Bob had trained Billie to help with the rescue of animals, she could find an injured Raccoon in a heartbeat. That is a story all by itself. Bob funded the wildlife ambulance by himself, never taking a penny from the wildlife center. There were times years ago when Sarvey would be ready to shut it’s doors the next day due to lack of funds. I remember tears being shed about the prospect of that, I also remember ‘Crazy Bob’ giving our director thousands of dollars under the condition that no one can know about it. Bob was one of the most generous people I have ever met! I know Bob will have many friends waiting at the Rainbow Bridge. In Memory of ‘Crazy Bob’ Jones.
