Patient Updates
Every day new patients arrive at our facility. In an effort to tell their story of survival and highlight the diverse number of species that we rehabilitate, we highlight a new patient each week. Some of these are individuals, others are orphaned siblings. As their cases progress - we will update the outcome - our hope is that many, many of these patients are released!

Orphaned Steller's jays
These 5 orphaned jays range in age from 4 to 6 weeks. A couple were brought to us as fledglings after being attacked by a dog or cat, but most have come in because they were mistakenly "rescued". It is common for many birds to learn to fly and live on the ground for a short time.
People often think they are injured, or that they need to be in a nest - and they unwittingly "kidnap" them. We try to re-unite and re-nest whenever possible. Please if you see a young bird on the ground that has nearly all of their feathers - contact us to see if this is truly a bird in distress or if the situation is normal. Status - released.
