Every day new patients arrive at our facility. We see over 3,000 patients annually. Over 135 different species come to us for care. In an effort to tell their stories of survival and highlight the diverse number of species that we rehabilitate, we try to share some of their stories here. Young Raven
This raven was one of four seen in a nest near Sedro-Woolley and the presenter saw him struggling for a few weeks before she was able to contain him. The parents had been feeding him and he was also eating dog food on the property. He has a severe infection in the joint of one wing and large scabbed over injuries to his leg. We are sending out bloodwork and a culture to determine what antibiotics are best suited for the infection. Our prognosis is guarded due to the involvement of the joint but we will do all we can for him. Status: Euthanized in care. Due to the severity of the infection, we finally had to make the difficult decision to end his suffering. Cultures and lab results showed it was a very severe staph infection and treatment to the joint was not possible. He was suffering and would never fly.
