Patient Profiles

Every day new patients arrive at our facility. In an effort to tell their story of survival and highlight the diverse number of species that we rehabilitate, we highlight a new patient each week. Some of these are individuals, others are orphaned siblings. As their cases progress - we will update the outcome - our hope is that many, many of these patients are released!

California Ground Squirrel

This young orphaned squirrel was found in near State Rt 3. We don’t often see this species of squirrels here, but there are some populations in WA state. He was found near dead siblings and was as kept for five days before he was brought to us. Sadly, he was in grave condition due to being “squished” by the finder’s children. He had a poor prognosis, but you can see from these photos that he is looking alert and eating well now. Please do not attempt to rehab wildlife yourself. It is not legal and often it doesn’t end well. He has a second chance now! Status: Released
