Patient Profiles

Every day new patients arrive at our facility. We see over 3,000 patients annually. Over 135 different species come to us for care. In an effort to tell their stories of survival and highlight the diverse number of species that we rehabilitate, we try to share some of their stories here. You can also see posts on our social media pages.

Orphaned Barred Owlets

We received a call about an owlet on the ground on a trail. A family discovered it had fallen from the nest. The baby owl arrived so cold from the ordeal, that he was physically shaking. We got him a warmed up, with a snuggle buddy and a heat pad right away. He was so exhausted, that once warmed up he fell right asleep.

We received another call a couple of days later, the sibling had also fallen from the nest. While we try to re-nest owlets, it is not always possible. The rotten tree cavity where they were nesting was unsafe for anyone to climb and so we will raise these owlets and release them at the end of the summer.
