Patient Profiles

Every day new patients arrive at our facility. We see over 3,000 patients annually. Over 135 different species come to us for care. In an effort to tell their stories of survival and highlight the diverse number of species that we rehabilitate, we try to share some of their stories here. You can also see posts on our social media pages.

Babies Are Here!!

This little guy was one of our 1st orphaned babies for the season. Eastern cottontails have been arriving every day. Sadly, many are cat caught (please keep your cat/s inside) or disturbed by landscaping and mowing. Walk your lawn and look for minor depressions that appear to be covered in fur. These are active nest for rabbits and you can place a laundry basket over the area while you mow. Once you are done remove the basket to allow mom to care for her babies.

People often say, we could not find the mom or did not see her. She is only there at dawn and dusk for long enough to nurse her babies, so you are very unlikely to actually see her. Call us if you are concerned and we can help determine if they need to truly be rescued or left in the nest.
