Patient Updates

Every day new patients arrive at our facility. In an effort to tell their story of survival and highlight the diverse number of species that we rehabilitate, we highlight a new patient each week. Some of these are individuals, others are orphaned siblings. As their cases progress - we will update the outcome - our hope is that many, many of these patients are released!

Mountain Beaver hit by car

By Sarvey Wildlife / Monday, June 19, 2017 /

These are also called Ground Bears, and are considered a 'living fossil' due to a variety of very ancient anatomical attributes. Their closest living relative is the squirrel and they diverged about 40 million years ago!

This little guy was found wandering through traffic, walking in circles. We suspect he was hit by a car due to his behavior and head trauma. He is still recovering, these types of injuries can often take time. Status: released.
