Patient Updates

Every day new patients arrive at our facility. In an effort to tell their story of survival and highlight the diverse number of species that we rehabilitate, we highlight a new patient each week. Some of these are individuals, others are orphaned siblings. As their cases progress - we will update the outcome - our hope is that many, many of these patients are released!

Opossum Tales

Two adult opossums in care. One male and one female, both recovering from wounds and lacerations. One was attacked by a cat and the other was caught in a rat trap. The rat trap was stuck on one of his feet and our vet, Dr. Kovar was able to amputate an injured toe and saved his foot. He should heal well and be able to adapt so we can release him. Please remember to only use rat and mouse traps in secure areas that will not be found by wildlife or pets. We see many injuries like these that are preventable. Status: released
